Viva Las Vegas!!!  Well, here it is at last! The reservation form we’ve been asking you to fill out! It is enclosed! Time’s a wastin’! The rooms are going! Print out & mail the registration form at the end.

Bring your dancing shoes, CDs, photo albums.  Bring those bathing suits because Caesars has a wonderful pool area and a fantastic spa. We are here to “matar saudades”.  You will never find friends quite like those who come to Barulho. That’s the very special part about Barulho. Contact those you knew in Brazil.  Get them to join us.

BARULHO ACTIVITIES:

Barulho Brasileiro VII will include the traditional Friday evening cocktail welcome party, the Saturday night feijoada dinner and dance, and the Sunday morning breakfast and business meeting (including the announcement of the location for the Barulho Brasileiro VIII).  We have decided not to schedule a Barulho activity for Sunday afternoon because many people are starting tours of the National Parks surrounding Las Vegas after the business meeting, and others have expressed a desire to have additional time to continue sampling the many activities available at Caesars Palace and at other sites in Las Vegas.

CAESARS PALACE:

Caesars has nine excellent restaurants on its premises and many shops and boutiques in its renowned Forum.  If you are not gambling in its opulent casinos, dining in its restaurants or shopping in the Forum, you can enjoy the outside pools and facilities in the area named The Garden of the Gods.  With three large pools measuring a total of 22,000 square feet, there is plenty of space for frolicking in the Las Vegas sun.  There are also gardens, whirlpools, tennis courts, the Neptune bar, and of course, the Snackus Maximus.  And if that isn’t enough, the Caesars Spa offers an incredibly well-equipped health club with state-of-the-art equipment, a rock-climbing wall, personal trainers, and much more.  Other things to take advantage of at Caesars include the Race for Atlantis IMAX 3-D Ride, as well as the Palace Court Terrace and the popular Cleopatra’s  Barge. Additional information about Caesars Palace? Log onto www.caesars.com and take a virtual tour.

LAS VEGAS:

Las Vegas is rightfully named “The city that never sleeps.”  There is so much to see and do in that you need 24 hours each day just to sample some of the many available activities.  While still primarily a gambling destination, Las Vegas is rapidly evolving into a luxury resort destination as well.  Between gambling, or instead of gambling, you can play golf on any of numerous excellent courses, relax in the spacious hotel pool areas, visit water theme parks (such as the 26 acre Wet ‘n’ Wild), visit amusement parks (such as the MGM Grand Adventures, or the Adventure Dome with its unique 5 acre indoor amusement park), or ride a variety of roller coasters (such as the one at the New York, New York hotel or the one atop the 1,150 foot Stratosphere Tower).  Other attractions include the Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage, the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the Liberace Museum, and many more.  For dining, you can choose from the many fine restaurants available at Caesars Palace, or you can visit any of the restaurants in the nearby hotels. Among the latest choices for restaurants in Las Vegas are trendy steak houses, including the Yukon Grille, AJ’s Steakhouse, and Yolie’s Brazilian Steak House, (702) 794-0700. At night, you can take a short walk from Caesars Palace and view the volcano erupting at the Mirage, the pirate ship battle at Treasure Island, the choreographed water fountain ballet at the new Bellagio, or the Masquerade Show in the Sky at the Rio Suites Hotel.  At night you can also take in one of the many excellent stage shows, including Cirque du Soleil’s O at the Bellagio, the Siegfried and Roy magic show at the Mirage, Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere at Treasure Island, the new De La Guarda show at the Rio Suites, or Jubilee, a classic Vegas style review, at Bally’s.  All of these shows are within walking distance from Caesars Palace.  For the latest information about attractions and shows in Las Vegas, call the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority at (800) 332-5333 or (702) 892-7575, or log onto www.lasvegas24hours.com.

TOURS:

If you arrive in Las Vegas early or leave late, or if you end up with free time on Saturday or Sunday, you can choose from several excellent tours of the area surrounding Las Vegas.  One of the most popular tours is the visit to Hoover Dam, an engineering and architectural marvel located 30 miles from Las Vegas.  Gray Lines, (702) 384-1234, offers the 4 ½ hour Hoover Dam Shuttle Tour or the Grand Hoover Dam and Lake Mead Cruise Tour which includes a 90-minute paddlewheeler cruise on Lake Mead.  Another option would be to rent a car and visit the Red Rock Canyon and its 13 mile scenic drive, or the amazing 36,000 acre Valley of Fire State Park.  The Red Rock Canyon is located 19 miles from Las Vegas and the Valley of Fire State Park is located 60 miles from Las Vegas.
